Soka Design Studio in Mumbai – led by interior designer Sravanya Aditya Pittie – has been commissioned to create a holiday home in Jodhpur for a wealthy Rajput family who has an extensive business in the same city. They were commissioned to design a 5,000-square-foot home spread over two acres with gardens, an outbuilding for staff, and accommodations for the family’s pets. The architecture of the house is in a Hindu style, with balconies and four balconies attached to the bedrooms and large windows and doors for cross ventilation and sunlight. The large living and dining space is wrapped in a floral wallpaper from Cole & Son. Two matching custom-made rugs from The Weaver are spread across the marble floor set in a contrasting geometric pattern. The plush sofas and coffee tables were designed by interior designer Jay Dhanani. The pillows were sourced from the Bombay 50, Fendi Casa and Westside. Some of the printed cushions are specially designed to match the wallpaper.
This blue inlaid console showcases Prabhavalli from an ancient South Indian temple, purchased from an antique shop in Kerala. To make it more spacious, Pittie installed a mirror in the center and placed it on a marble stand.

The Pittie summary received was detailed and clear, “This holiday home was to be designed for a small family who built several hospitals and temples with well-defined Rajput architecture. They are proud of their heritage and wanted their home to have a Rajput vibe, while also being modern. The family entertains regularly, Bonfires are held in the winter and the piano plays in the evenings. So, the house should be able to accommodate all of these activities. Plus, because their horses and dogs move freely around the property, they wanted the house to be low-maintenance as well,” the designer shares. No structural changes were made to the site, but one of the four bedrooms was converted into an office space with a separate entrance. In the other three bedrooms, walk-in wardrobes have been created with luggage racks and ample storage spaces.
