Taking design cues from Andalusian backstreet bars to 20th-century Casablanca design and airy Moroccan courtyards, Barbary Next is a convivial neighborhood restaurant and wine bar located in the much-loved Niles Yard courtyard.
Diners can enjoy a menu befitting Moroccan, Spanish, and North African cuisine, and dishes like buttered bean stew with smoked paprika, lepena chermo Allah, and Oxtail tagine, all filled with smoky flavors and aromatic spices. Meanwhile, interiors from Studio Covent Garden, Gounter & Drucker include a zinc bar with seating for ten backed by a distressed antique mirror, lemon-washed walls, soft lighting, and a blackboard where lunch and dinner menus are displayed.
With the approach of the warmer months, the large windows will be pulled in the front and open and look out onto the balcony where tables and chairs allow al fresco dining in this attractive central London location.

Owned by siblings Zoe and Leo Baskin, and the “little sister” of the restaurant next door, The Barbary Next Door has a thoughtful wine list focusing on Spanish, French and Moroccan bottles; Wine director and sommelier Honey Spencer has chosen the perfect companions to Head Chef Daniel Alt.
Whether it’s to start the day with minced lamb kofta with eggs in a spiced tomato sauce, or eaten straight from the skillet, or finish it off with a bottle of bonbon and a hearty dinner with friends, Niles Yard’s treasure is intimate without any intimidation, unpleasant while good, It is a wonderful little neighborhood joint full of passion and authenticity.
