Text description provided by the architects. The Tianren Shanshui Art Community was built here around 2020, promoting local development and bringing benefits to villagers. Locals began setting up stalls throughout the village, forming a village fair. At the intersection of the Art Community and the village, a place is built, where the villagers sell produce, wait for the bus in the shade and celebrate the events. The venue functions as an art gallery open at the same time.

The site is frequented by both locals and visitors from the cities. The touch of nature and local customs must be preserved here. It is very interesting when visitors negotiate with farmers on local produce. The experience is quite different from the case when they are shopping in the cold supermarket. Taoranxu serves multiple purposes. Visitors, public events, and art salons make it a popular destination. The gray tone of the site fits perfectly into all kinds of activities.

Following the naturalistic style of the countryside, this building uses an exposed concrete frame and maintains the original patterns of the wood panels. There is no frills or borders, which creates the perfect ventilation and view of the farmland. Black mud, industrial fans and steel bars are both simple and understated. The texture of the material is in perfect harmony with the country style. With a strong visual impact, the building features a curvilinear facade and a deck made up of 41 rows of simple, solid, patterned concrete frames. Against the green farmland, mountains and forests, a unique vision effect is created.

Much attention is paid to the precast concrete facade. After extensive experimentation between bamboo tubes of different diameters and wood panels of varied patterns, we decided to use pine. To create harsher effects and have a facade complete with sharper patterns, we charred pine boards. The result is satisfactory.

Taoranxu is a fruitful experience in terms of developing rural tourism facilities and co-development with local people. The project is fully in keeping with the local climate, culture and stall culture. The natural ventilation design makes the site popular in an area with hot weather in summer and warm temperatures in winter. Winged birds and insects fly freely around the site. The simple and modern facade of the building adds an artistic touch to the village. For the village, the building is like a child who returns to his hometown after finishing school, and the real smile of the village people. There is a unique artistic mood in the building.
