Denison Yachting Debuts Striking New Superyacht Concept

After interviewing Bob Denison, founder of Denison Yachting, several times. As a guest on the Florida-based company’s “Virtual Boat Shows”, he and his team got together when the Covid19 pandemic first forced the world shut down in March 2020. I can say with certainty that they bring fresh thinking, brand energy and innovation to yacht sales, charter and management.

Now that Denison Yachting has teamed up with SkyStyle (an Italian design studio known for advanced aeronautical design) to produce the UNIQUE 71 232-foot luxury concept yacht, I’m excited to see that they’re bringing the same energy to new yacht design and build as well.

Not only is the aptly named Project UNIQUE 71 concept they just announced is meant to circumnavigate the globe. The concept’s sharp bow, futuristic look, and stunning interiors also seem designed to blast traditional ideas of what a luxury yacht should look like out of the water.

I love this design because SkyStyle’s leading designers, Lucas Colombo and Max Pardo, who have worked with Boeing to test the limits of what’s possible in aircraft interiors, have done the same with designing superyachts.

“We were introduced to Team Denison at the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show by our friends at SuperyachtOne,” Colombo says. “Denison showed great interest in the project and our intent to add new and fresh values ​​to the yachting industry. We quickly understood that there was a huge opportunity for an interesting synergy, for the future of UNIQUE 71.”

Colombo is absolutely right. Large interior wrap-around windows, large open spaces that include multiple guest cabins and an angel’s deck with an open roof push the boundaries of yachting design in fresh new ways. The opacity of the glass panels that surround the yacht that can be regulated to set the mood, increase privacy or transparency is also very cool.

“In today’s yacht design world, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in terms of form and function,” says Alex Clarke of Dennison Yachting who is the focal point for this exclusive project. UNIQUE 71 aims to satisfy the most challenging customer. With Denison delivering this ground-breaking design, it allows the client to approach multiple shipyards to collect quotes to help develop this project and make it a reality without being tied to a specific yard. The challenge is to find a shipyard that can understand this vision and the client’s goals, both as individuals and in their business and personal use of the yacht. We are looking forward to playing a small role in making this dream come true.”

Of course, the UNIQUE 71 project also has plenty of entertainment and relaxation areas, including a gym, sauna, 12-seat theater and billiards/bar room. Is the world of luxury yachts ready for a futuristic design like this?
