Whether you trade in an impersonal office space for a permanent work-from-home setup or just need a comfortable place to catch up on emails, it’s important to design a home office that you enjoy spending time in. For inspiration, we’ve rounded up workspaces that vary in style, from rustic, greenery-covered nooks to contemporary spaces perfect for compact urban homes.
Rural workspaces in Chennai and Goa
Interior designer Sunita Yogesh designed this rustic workspace for a self-employed IT client who wanted a stylish and comfortable setting to work from. This custom designed old world study table is accompanied by a cane backrest chair and a simple table lamp. A major attraction is this study, which also includes a daybed – great for mid-day meditation and housing unexpected guests.

A simple acacia wood desk and custom-made cane chair illuminated by a slim white floor lamp provide a light and airy workspace in this Goa home. Its location, next to a door that opens onto a large balcony, allows in natural light and fresh air during the day. A manicured hammock adds a fun bohemian touch.

Decorated workspaces in Mumbai, Delhi and Toronto
Set up your workspace against a statement wall and you’ll have an easy-to-use backdrop for video calls – no more fiddling with your laptop to make sure your pile of laundry stays off the camera. While renovating their Toronto home during the pandemic, the owners asked interior designer Iman Lalji to choose a wallpaper that would look great on Zoom calls. This stunning wallpaper creates visual interest without being distracting. Hints of gray and bronze mirror those of a sleek work desk, maintaining visual cohesion in the space.
