The construction process of United Imaging’s manufacturing and R&D base has begun in Shanghai, China.
Architectural design firm Gensler has partnered with a medical equipment company to create a modern campus, integrating technology research and development (R&D), smart manufacturing, international training, and global branding. The 420,000 m2 (4,520,842 square feet) is intended to accommodate 8,000 to 10,000 employees.
Based on the concept of sustainable development oriented to people, the new campus will feature circular corridors through connecting bridges, as well as open and connected office areas. The design will also combine rivers and city roads, celebrate the coexistence of humans and nature, and achieve an organic blend of people and landscape.
The digital factory will promote automated and intelligent manufacturing. The ultimate goal of the new campus is to accelerate research and development and innovation of next-generation products and technology and to promote progress from research and development to manufacturing the company’s full line of advanced medical equipment, core components and advanced technologies.
The Shanghai complex is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
