Text description provided by the architects. HIGHCOMMERCE is a creative digital agency, headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam. DPLUS has been commissioned to service the design and build for the HighCommerce office, which will house up to 140 fully active employees. The main objective was to revitalize the space in a place that invigorates creativity and attracts the best talent, a space that is vibrant and transparent and that inspires a greater sense of collaboration and productivity.

We successfully translate their culture and preferences for Hustle-Creative-Transparent into a design concept that is dominated by a blend of modern and contemporary design styles. The name of the concept was the Vietnamese Transparent Box, which embodies the characteristics of the modern, noisy, fearless Vietnamese army and is crystal clear all activities among the members.

Accelerates – Spatially, the office has been largely divided into three main sections (entrance, functional area, and individual workspace) undone in the HighCommerce brand color palette (orange, red, white). These three parts were connected by the corridor, which is what we called the “spine” of the office. Starting at Hustle Square from the entrance, the spirit of hustle was reflected in the driveway-moving experience. The corridor’s shape was twisted into a zigzag that connected the spaces. We drive the direction of the user from one space to another with different feelings, in this way from the moment one walks into the space, he leaves a lasting impression of a buzzing brand in the minds of the visitor and his proud employee.

creative – The entrance that includes the pantry was considered as the creative area that can help in uplifting the mood and increasing the productivity of employees. Based on HighCommerce’s coffee culture, the store is designed as a small multi-functional coffee shop including football table, coffee machine, bookshelves, microwave ovens etc. not only for staff service but also for casual meetings with customers and partners. Interestingly, then, all functional rooms were also named after a type of coffee such as Latte, Cold Brew or Espresso.

The most distinctive and unique were the graphic details that exploited traditional elements (Vietnamese cranes, dragons, and clouds) designed based on the patterns of Ly Dynasty (1010-1225). The graphic designs are highlighted at several points in the space but mostly at the functional entrance and entrance.

Transparency – In contrast, we kept the individual workspace open, clean and simple with the main color white and gray, no walls as well as private rooms to express the team’s transparency culture. We used glass partitions with brand color labels for all of our meeting and training rooms to stay clear but still private enough. Last but not least, the highlight of the space were the transparent tree boxes designed using striped cups, creating a blurry effect of the trees within. These bins were also used to divide partitions instead of using signage, making the workspace more inviting.

We set out to create a dynamic and interesting space that keeps the company culture on everyone’s mind but not in their arms. Through intentional design, this workspace unites the HighCommerce staff and allows the company to continue to innovate as thought leaders and culture changers.
