vaust studio presents a new series of indoor sculptures
VAUST Studio presents “Total Exposure”, a series of seven interior designs statues and objects that inhabit the architectural influence of Berlin. The group presents itself as a story of a brutal bondage between the exposed Cement and raw aluminum, offering a wide range of things, including pendants, the side tablesVases and incense burners. The rough texture and terracotta tones of the pieces add a uniquely warm touch to any space.

Stumble on aggregate concrete
The VAUST studio series is heavily inspired by the brutalist buildings of Berlin. “Beside their unique formal language and composition of volumes comes some imperfection, which is quite a popular topic when talking about interior aesthetics these days.” Designers share. Taking a closer look at the composition of this different way of creating architecture, we have found a very special and wonderful building material called exposed aggregate concrete. Simply by washing away a thin layer of concrete after demoulding the masonry parts, the exposed material reveals the gravel, which holds the concrete together. The generated result can be artificially modified by changing the concrete recipe. The team explains.
Diving deeply into this specific material and its application technique, the studio created their very own personal formula to arrive at their perception of aesthetic interpretation. Instead of using local gravel, the designers chose two types of Italian marble gravel to create the perfect color route. Warm beige is paired with a complementing terracotta tone to form a warm and elegant ensemble of elements.

Giving a new renaissance to a forgotten subject
The “Total Exposure” series includes seven interior objects that show simplicity in form with a strong emphasis on materials, a unique interpretation of proportion, and composition of materials. The exposed aggregate concrete is contextualized with carefully polished aluminum as it creates unity. Some pieces celebrate the material because it is made up simply of either pure metal translated into soothing formal language or a tribute to nature when giving larger pieces of gravel a stage as a ceiling-hung object. They come together as companions and yet have their own huge and special characteristics.
We embrace the cultural value of this precious architectural material. It’s our response to paying tribute to the city we live and love. Full exposure is our attempt to give an almost forgotten, frivolous substance a new renaissance. Little VAUST studio.
