DIY Diary: My Inspiration for a Laundry Room Makeover

One of the biggest luxuries of my city-to-state move last year was the opportunity to live in a home with my own washer and dryer. Not only that, but a room for laundry – even if it’s more of a closet than a room. Although I like the extra convenience that the devices give me, the organization of the area left a lot to be desired. The old vintage machines that come with the house mostly work, but they take up a good part of the room. The shelves above, made of stained plywood, are all out of reach in the first place. I knew this room could benefit from a renovation – laundry rooms are getting a lot of love these days, and it shows.

As usual, I love going down the inspiration rabbit hole to get my thoughts flowing and narrow down what I do and don’t want in my own space. Plus, it’s always fun to have a lot of sources in mind to spark some creativity. I knew for sure I wanted a stackable washer dryer, so I took the LG Laundry Love Quiz to find out my laundry love language and browse their selection. I knew I wanted to maximize the small space and make the most of my untapped organizational skills. After getting my results, which directed me toward front-loading washer dryer combos, I browsed Pinterest for ideas on how to plan and decorate the room.

Knowing that I wanted to organize the room around the LG WashTower, I looked around for other examples of small washrooms with stacked units so I could figure out how best to visualize the space once my new machine arrived. Plus, I wanted to give the room a colorful look, so I browsed linen rooms and closets for a similar look. Here are some of the most dreamy images that stuck in my mind.
