SAVVY Scot has turned her boring garden into an outdoor paradise with a hot tub, fire pit and comfortable lounge for just £5,000.
Alex Lawson, from Aberdeen, wanted a family space to enjoy with friends and spent thousands of pounds and hours turning her new backyard into her own little getaway.

The DIY & interiors blogger revamped the space by adding more paving, decking area, and artificial grass.
For an extra touch of luxury, a stunning lounge, hot tub, fire pit, and high table were installed.
Alex spent £3,500 to hire an outside company to complete the foundation work, before recycling the yard herself with a painted stencil design (£60), as well as erecting the horizontal fence (£660) herself.
She said, “I absolutely loved creating this sanctuary and can honestly say that any night I spent around the fire pit with friends would make me think every penny and hour of hard work was worth it.”
Alex initially became interested in DIY after she purchased her first home in September 2019.
The architect, who made a finalist at this year’s Christmas House in Scotland, kept costs down by buying her outdoor furniture and accessories from stores including Aldi, Home Bargains, Amazon, Asda and B&Q.
Alex also registered an outdoor table and chairs on the Facebook Marketplace and made her own pergola for £260, saving £240 over what was quoted.

Mom builds the decorating of her dreams tenfold with free Facebook gifts
She now offers an interior design service via e-design to help others create the spaces of their dreams and transform their homes.
“I am on a mission to inspire people to step out of their comfort zone, try new projects and create a beautiful home for themselves in the process,” she added.
