Dubai: French-Algerian actress Lina Khoudri, who is now accustomed to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, revealed the release date of her latest film on Instagram, and impressed audiences with a short clip of the new dramatic period.
The film, titled “La place d’une autre” in English, and titled “Secret Name”, will be released in theaters on January 19, according to a post by the actress on Instagram Stories.
Directed by Aurelia George, Khoudrey takes on the lead role of Nellie, who escapes from a miserable life after becoming a frontline nurse in 1914. One day, she takes on the identity of Rose, a young woman from a good family, who dies in front of her. She meets wealthy Madame de Lengwil while posing as Rose and begins working with the family, with a lie that changed the course of her life forever.
Directed by Aurelia George, Khoudrey takes the lead role of Nellie.
The rising star first gained prominence for her role as a star in the Algerian film “Papicha,” where she played a young design student determined to run a fashion show in protest of rising conservatism in Algeria in the midst of civil war.
Director Mounia Medawar’s first feature film was shown in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
For her work in the film, Khodri won the Orizonte Award for Best Actress at the 74th Venice Film Festival, and was nominated for a Cesar Award as Best Promising Actress.
Khoudrey went on to get a number of major roles, notably in Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed film “The French Dispatch,” starring Timothée Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton, Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe and others.
She played a student activist and Chalamet’s love interest in the live-action film that wowed critics at Cannes 2021.
The 29-year-old actress is also set to appear in a new two-part adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic French novel “The Three Musketeers,” in which she will star opposite François Seville as a love interest, playing Constance d’Artagnan, formerly Bonacio.
In addition, the Algerian-born star is filming “November,” a thriller directed by Cedric Jimenez about French counter-terror services while hunting down suspects after the 2015 attacks in Paris.
Most recently, Khoudri appeared on the silver screen in Haute Couture, a French film that tells the story of a young model named Esther (Nathalie Baye) who, after participating in her latest Dior Haute Couture collection, has her bag stolen by the age of twenty. – Gadi (Khudri) public at the metro station.
