Ross Art Group has a truly formidable collection of rare vintage posters – among them, the 1997 Andy Warhol poster for Chanel No. 5, a series of 1970s racing Porsche posters, and the 1998 Apple “Think Different” ad featuring Martha Graham. The site is where interior designer Liz Kahn finds herself shopping annually for gifts for her friends and family – especially the young adults, teens, and kids in her life. “It’s an easy way to help them start their art collection at a young age,” she says. A few years ago, Kahn gifted a 1983 Davis Cup poster to her tennis-loving eldest son.
She especially likes the vintage Air France designs, “always colorful and beautiful”, such as the 1959 Air France map, that you would put in an office, game room, or project room. Or this affordable American Airlines option made for Boston designed in 1953 that Liz could envision in a teen’s bedroom.
Caan tends to frame vintage posters before gifting them, opting to keep the plexiglass and “a simple wood frame that complements the poster but doesn’t detract from the design.”
