Treehouses, design cabins, woodland huts, hillsides – the long-standing popularity of exciting accommodations is not surprising; Many of us like to leave the noise of the city behind from time to time and get closer to nature. Modern treehouses – which take tree stands for kids to a whole new level – provide this experience. We can retreat into a canopy-level house or a two-legged cabin to watch the wildlife in the quiet woods, listen to the rustle of leaves or soak in the view unfolding before us.
Hello Wood’s newest booth, Wauhaus, rises above the ground with the help of its long legs. After the futuristic workstation and simple Kabinka, Wauhaus realizes dreams of a new cabin. This cabin is designed for those who want to soar above the ground and the hustle and bustle of everyday life to hide in a cozy little house and get a view of the world from a new perspective.
The first Wauhaus was built in idyllic surroundings on top of the hills of Zala County. This specific building functions as a guest house or study, but Wauhaus type cabins can be used as luxury accommodation. Constructed playfully from basic forms, this playfully shaped building is a contemporary response to the treehouse imagination. The Wauhaus is located on a steep hill slope, located on legs of various lengths. The cabin is covered with graphite gray wood panels. A narrow bridge leads to the entrance on the side of the house that expands to a balcony in front of the door. It has a steel railing and a solid wood railing with built-in lighting.
Upon entering, the view from the huge facade window catches the viewer’s eye. The landscape that makes up the fourth wall defines the interior atmosphere by highlighting different colors and lights in each season. As another interesting detail, the extra windows in the living room and bathroom are rounded. The entire interior of the cabin was covered with natural birch plywood, which was also used to create kitchen furniture and sliding doors that concealed the bathroom and closet. The beautiful pattern of the birch walls is paired with oak floors.
The 20 square meter Wauhaus rethinks minimal living space. Instead of the traditional building method that has a high environmental footprint, it is made from sustainable building materials as is the case with Hello Wood buildings. The width of the cabin is three and a half meters, which is one meter more than the standard container size. The legs are attached to the ground by a set of triple screws to which the beams supporting the structure are attached. Thanks to the cabin’s durable construction, it will last for many decades to come and will be habitable in any season.
