Here at Designboom, maintaining an open dialogue with our readers is extremely important. Thanks to our submission portal, in 2021 we received several thousand products from designers and artists from all over the world. We’ve seen the design of products that aim to make our lives more practical, creative and fun. We also come across projects that seek to honor the past, as well as concepts and ideas that focus on the future.
As we head into 2022, we’re very keen to see what innovative projects our readers have in store, but for now we’re taking a look back at the last year. After years of research and development, an Italian company Lapetek Presents “Chef Labitec” – A to cook The system is completely hidden under a modern sintered stone worktop and is activated by a technological cooking mat. The system is patented, with the thermoelectric part developed in collaboration with the University of Padua.

Nils Holger Mohrmann presents the “der vorstand,” a slim wall cabinet that transforms into a multifunctional thought center, creating a sense of space whenever users need it. The chassis features a rear wall on wheels that rolls with one pull to reveal a work Desk With built in bookshelves and a top light in the middle. The project seeks to provide maximum atmosphere and minimum surface area at the same time.

OBAKE One-Eyed Lanterns reinterprets Japanese spirits in a pop style

Designer Ryosuke Harashima Looking forward to Japanese folklore to move a pair of lanterns His name is OBAKE “A” and “UN”. One-eye lighting fixtures reinterpret spirits known as “youkai” or “obake” in pop style, giving traditional lanterns a modern twist. The original design, without eyes, was part of the STILLIFE collection from Harrashima, which was shown inside tadao ando-design museum in Japan.

LOVESEAT combines an armchair and a running cat chair in one piece of furniture

Designers Stefan Verkaek and Beth Hornmann of Chatham pet furniture brand The Loveseat, a newly created product chair who collects the cats And their owners are closer together. The design combines two different worlds into one, giving the owners the opportunity to relax comfortably, while the cat actively plays next to them. Since cats feel that their human companion is close and involved, they are encouraged to use the wheel often.
