After craving Hyundai’s sinister (in a good way) retro EV, a new concept car came to steal my heart from a company I can’t say I’ve heard of before. It’s Citroën My Ami Buggy, a battery-powered minivan that looks like a smart car that’s really into backpacking, mountain biking, or any number of fun weekend activities (shout out to Engadget to bring this into my life).
Citroën says in its press release that the wagon is designed to be playful, something “every child from the age of 14 to 77 would want to add to their Christmas list,” and says it was inspired by “non-automated worlds such as building toys, industrial design and fashion.” I can already buy costumes. – The roof-mounted spare tire is reminiscent of a lightly throwing hood. Although I can’t help but see it as an assembled version of one of the John Deere Gator trucks.

Citroën has many, many words to describe the car’s design, wax sings around the removable and rollable cloth doors, the “+” badge that stands for EV-ness buggy, and a black, yellow and khaki color scheme meant to remind you of camping gear. . If I had any hope of this vehicle becoming an actual thing you could buy (like some sort of neat version of the Subaru Outback Adventure), I’d recommend reading it all – but you’ll mostly get the feel of the liveliness by watching the minute – a long trial reel the company made from order it.
My Ami Buggy is based on Citroën’s Ami, a city-focused electric vehicle that has an 8-horsepower engine, a top speed of 28 mph, and a touch of more than 40 miles of range, according to Engadget. (That car started out as a concept in itself, so there’s probably hope I’ll get a buggy after all!)
The Ami seems to be made to be rented for short periods of time like a Lime scooter, rather than something you want to go on road trips or take on an off-road adventure. But if you create a concept and call it buggy, I’ll want to see someone try to send it across the dunes, like this video every Subaru owner shows their friends to prove they don’t need some pickup lift (maybe it can’t be up hill on any case).
Who knows if he could actually do that, but it’s fun to think of all the little adventures you can do with this kind of thing. How do you get to the great outdoors without stopping to charge? This is the most appropriate logical question type for Monday. It’s the weekend – we dream of driving down to the river with some inflatable tubes in the back of the wagon or (perhaps more seasonally) tying a Christmas tree the size of an apartment we cut ourselves to the top.
Oh, and PS: As far as I can tell, the name My Ami is no pun in Miami. If you have information to the contrary, please let me know (although I think I would probably be confused).
