The resulting shopping list will include available brands from the home grounds of Harrods — think Baccarat’s signature crystal decanters, elegant Christofle tableware, Anissa Kermiche candle holders and Emilia Wickstead’s patterned table linens — as well as bespoke pieces.
Once everything is purchased and delivered, the designer will swoop in to help set the table on site, and carry out any final decorations, such as floral arrangements. The service usually needs to be booked a week before the event, but on Christmas you can book until December 23rd. Prices will depend on the table and the customer’s taste (and budget), but as a guide, the view of the festive tables shown above will cost around £40k.
For now, the focus is on festive Christmas and New Year’s parades, but service will continue at other events throughout the year. As Fitzgibbon points out, “We cannot see this form of self-expression going anywhere. The popularity of small events and home occasions will continue to rise, not only because we crave more meaning from our social interactions, but because we crave opportunities to be creative and show the world what we are.”
Whether we’re exercising our creative muscles, or tapping into someone else’s muscles, the Look at Me table isn’t just for Christmas.
