In the real estate world, there is no property style that evokes winter more than a ski chalet. Traditionally constructed using wood and stone, the luxury chalets have evolved to include modern staples like glass and metal, says Julian Walker, owner of London-based real estate website SkiingProperty.com. “Luxury properties today still have wood in it but it’s much more modern and emphasizes design,” he says.
Another change from the past, according to Walker, is location. “They used to be mostly in the French and Swiss Alps, but now you can find chalets in almost any ski destination around the world,” he says.
