The Multiversal Masters of Evil version of Dark Phoenix could have looked a lot like the name itself, design drawings by Aaron Couder reveal.
Unused concept art included in the free giveaway Avengers secrets #50 offers a radically different glimpse into the Dark Phoenix.
Designed by Aaron Couder, this version of the Dark Phoenix has gone through many different iterations, including a bird-like body with wings reminiscent of the Egyptian sun god Ra and one that blended these bird characteristics with a human female head. Ultimately, the designs fused into a flamboyant form reminiscent of Jane Gray at the height of her power in Dark Phoenix, before finally settling on the compelling, compelling look already seen in Avengers Number 50, Number 750 of the comic’s legacy starring Earth’s Greatest Heroes.
This compelling iteration of Dark Phoenix serves up the Multiversal Masters of Evil, a group of ruthless villains from across time and space who are aligned with some of Earth-616’s reigning universe enemies, but with various twists and turns. The group first appeared in Free Comic Book Day: Avengers / Hulk #1 Before receiving the appropriate introduction in Avengers #50. They are led by Dom Supreme, a clone of Victor von Dom who rose to the rank of Wizard of Supreme. Aside from the Dark Phoenix and the Hound, her raging pet who appears to be a Wolverine from an alternate world, multiple evil lords consist of a young Thanos, Killmonger who has conquered both Wakanda and Asgard, a combination of Green Goblin and Ghost Rider unleashed on Ghost Goblin, and Black Skull, a hybrid between Venom and Red Skull.
“I love characters who are quirky in new ways…and these guys are definitely quirky!” Cooper said of the Multi-Realm Masters of Evil in a blurb embedded inside Avengers secrets #50.
Face these evil settlers travelers is a team of heroes from a variety of worlds – the avengers of the multiverse. This team will appear in the future Avengers Forever The series, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Aaron Couder, goes on sale in December. Couder described the series as a supernova blast from an exploding Megapop bomb that sends shockwaves through all of reality, to land after land that has been disfigured by the new multiple evil lords, to the ruins of Asgard at the end of time, the Avengers tower that sits atop a rock of fallen deities in End of Infinity. “
Along the way, Couder concluded, “We meet some of the newer versions of the Avengers that we know, as well as witness the return of some dear old friends, in a series that will swing the fences with each count, as the mightiest heroes. All the terrestrial planets in the sky seem to come together like never before. before “.
