original designer, Josef Escherek, was a primary goal of this comprehensive contemporary transformation.  Nestled among much larger homes in the Pacific Heights area of \u200b\u200bSan Francisco, this project adapts the original design to its current context. The entire interior of the house has been altered with bound materials that reflect, refract and sculpt light as it is captured.  The juxtaposition of heavy and light is carried out in the smallest detail.  In addition to this lobby space, the house re-establishes its relationship to the landscape via its back facade.  The new lower level physically connects the interior of the house to the outdoor living space and landscape.
