New York-based architect Victor Ortiz introduces the “progressive house,” a residential concept that is at once radical and simple.<\/strong> Conceived as a group of simple volumes surrounded by huge stones roof<\/strong> Plane, the design refers to the original old taper\u00e1 style. With this effect, the work embraces the heritage of the proposed site in Paraty, a fertile seaside town abroad Rio de Janeiro<\/strong>. Likewise, the style is distinguished by its visual simplicity, open walls, and simple enclosures – elements that are employed and translated into a new and contemporary architectural work.<\/p>\n victor b. Ortiz organizes the progressive house across three levels, although from afar it may look like a tall and low volume.<\/strong> These three levels are informed by the gradual slope of the landscape. The upper portion is used as an entrance and hosts the social spaces in the residence including the living and dining room, kitchen areas, breakfast room, and guest suite. Meanwhile, the middle level houses three suites, each of which is strategically open to the outside with floor-to-ceiling windows. The lowest level is a social terrace, programmed with a home theater, outdoor dining area and solarium.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The house has been carefully designed to take advantage of natural sunlight and ventilation to its advantage.<\/strong> The mass of volumes is unified over a smooth, lightweight, curved metal roof, allowing air to circulate throughout. All separate volumes receive plant life and express an intimate atmosphere, animated by nature. Because the openings also invite natural sunlight deeper into the house, the need for artificial lighting is reduced.<\/p>\n victor ortiz uses natural, local wood throughout the taper\u00e1 house, whether with some furniture pieces or window frames.<\/strong> Through the thoughtful palette of materials expressed throughout the house, the furniture and architectural design elements flow together to create an exciting and unifying design language.
