GRAND Designs really opens our eyes to some great properties, and this Scottish home is no exception.<\/p>\n

Kevin McCloud traveled across the country in search of the coolest developments Britain could offer, and came across the home of Colin McKinnon and Marta Briongos a few years ago.<\/p>\n

The couple had to delay the project due to budget and weather<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The couple’s stunning air barn home was built in Strathaven, and took ten years to build.<\/p>\n

Located in the middle of an airport, it’s not your usual location for a house, but the views are impeccable.<\/p>\n

The beautiful property was completed in 2019, and is definitely a standout for any aviation enthusiast.<\/p>\n

However, it wasn’t an easy journey for the couple, as the Grand Designs crew has already been following their construction since things got started.<\/p>\n

The first episode featuring flight instructor Colin and trapeze expert Martha aired back in 2011.<\/p>\n

They explained how their future home would be built on Colin and his family’s land, which includes Strathaven Airport, Scotland’s oldest continually used airstrip.<\/p>\n

They worked alongside Edinburgh-based architect Richard Murphy to create the dream home, and after ten long years, they finished their masterpiece.<\/p>\n

With a curved metal roof and a huge round glass balcony overlooking the front of the property, it’s a standout place.<\/p>\n

Its interiors are equally unique, with the couple choosing plenty of bold colors, from the signature yellow wall to the bright red furniture.<\/p>\n

Back in June 2021, Colin revealed in an interview with the Daily Record that they plan to do it again.<\/p>\n

He stated that plans are underway to build up to five more barn homes on the eight-acre plot.<\/p>\n
