    Not that simple. We asked the experts how they know it’s time to give a piece of furniture a new home.<\/p>\n

    When do you sell old furniture?<\/h2>\n

    Harriet Whitton is CEO and Founder of Narchie Home Appliances Marketplace. “I always know it’s time to sell a piece of furniture when it’s not working as well as it should, not because it’s broken but it just doesn’t work in the space,” she says.<\/p>\n

    \u201cI recently sold a glass dining table that was so big we could hardly use it,\u201d Harriet said. We all have items to attach to, which have followed us on many home moves. We still remember the moment we bought it many years ago.<\/p>\n

    However, we might argue that it is best to allow things to flow in and out of our homes more freely. When things feel cramped, you may just need to try a new storage idea to free up space.<\/p>\n

    Michaela Sharp is interior designer and upholsterer featured on BBC Iinterior design professors<\/em> It’s 2021. She knows how hard it can be to give up furniture, and she shares three things to ask yourself:<\/p>\n

    1. Does the component in question serve a function to the best of its ability?<\/li>\n
    2. Does the item fit the proportions of your room?<\/li>\n
    3. Do you work alongside your other furniture?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Whether you’re looking for small living room ideas or built-in hallway solutions, Michaela says if you can find a piece that works best, it’s time to upgrade. Donate the asset to a charity store or sell it online before looking for the best option.<\/p>\n

      She explains that furniture that’s too big or small for a room can disturb the flow and appear out of place. Remove the piece from the room and use masking tape to mark how much space you have to play with before shopping for a piece of these proportions.<\/p>\n

      “If the aesthetic is wrong, consider upcycling the furniture,” Michaela says. “If that’s unattainable, it’s time to let go of the piece and upgrade to something nicer!”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
