As soon as Cibele Flamurtari entered this North Andover dining room, she realized she needed a window. “I told clients the space wouldn’t be beautiful without more sunlight,” says Kite Interior Design’s director. Although initially hesitant about adding the budget, once the team broke through the sidewall, the owners were thrilled. “You couldn’t believe the difference,” Flamortari says. “Natural light completely shapes the design.”<\/span><\/p>\n 1<\/b> This fragile dining table balances out detailed crown moldings. The simple yet sturdy chairs are upholstered in a high-performance fabric. “The client works at the table every day, so the chairs should be comfortable,” Flamortari says.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n 2 <\/b>A textured glass chandelier mimics the lines of the table and ties to the glass door panels. “The client initially thought it was too modern, but came back after thinking about hundreds of others,” says the designer.<\/span><\/p>\n 3<\/b> A compact, lacquered Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore stone anchors the space and provides drama. “I started turning down projects with all the white cabinets,” Flamortari says. “I want to do something that excites me.”<\/span><\/p>\n 4<\/b> Color-corrected and resized Flamurtari family photos, then sent to be printed and framed. And as usual, she brought the plants and taught the clients how to take care of them.<\/span><\/p>\n 5 <\/b>Antique brass accents pop against the darker mills and inject warmth. \u201cA lot of people still ask for chrome because they think brass is [fleeting] direction; Flamortari says.<\/span><\/p>\n 6 <\/b>A traditional terracotta and blue rug that fulfills the owners’ desire for color. “In the living room, you can add pillows, but there aren’t many opportunities for color accents in the dining room,” says the designer.<\/span><\/p>\n Marni Elise Katz is a regular contributor to Globe magazine.
