Many world-famous artists have partnered with BMW over the years: Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jeff Koons (to name a few), each of whom decorated the Beamer’s exterior with a unique paint or foliation job in the artist’s signature style.<\/p>\n

Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei is the first to show her art inside<\/em> car.<\/p>\n

Stunning digital artwork by Cao Fei titled quantum garden<\/em>It debuted January 5 inside the luxury cabin of the new electric BMW iX M60 during the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (January 5-7).<\/p>\n

Conveniently unveiled via live broadcast, Cao Fei’s digital artwork shows BMW’s digital art mode capabilities. This new technology feature on the car’s dashboard display combines graphics, mood lighting and sound to create a uniquely immersive experience for driver and passenger alike.<\/span><\/p>\n

“my career, <\/span>quantum garden<\/span><\/i>, gives the BMW driver the opportunity to experience the ever-changing digital landscape of a multi-faceted universe in a screen realm, where abstract poetry intersects with sensory pixels.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Beijing-based artist described the installation as “a poetic array of universes, countless atoms, nebulae, thousands of fast-moving beams of light from the depths of the universe, and those subsequent chains of galaxies, growing larger and smaller, intersecting and expanding, gathering and separating, realizing And listening to each other, around countless centers constantly alternating. In a multidimensional world, the path is non-linear, and the journey has no end, only the freedom to switch between the micro and macro worlds, to wander, explore and evolve.”<\/p>\n

The innovative debut coincides with the 50th anniversary of BMW’s cultural engagement and marks a paradigm shift for the programme, according to the company.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith the new Digital Art Mode, BMW Cultural Engagement reaches new heights with the creation of something completely unique,\u201d \u200b\u200bsaid Christoph Grote, Senior Vice President, Digital Automotive, BMW. <\/span><\/p>\n

“For the first time, we are making digital art an integral part of the modern in-car driving experience and using innovative technology to transform mobility into a highly individual, exclusive and emotional experience.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Cao Fei says that the work is “a poetic collection of universes.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cao Fei previously collaborated with the BMW Group in 2017 as part of the German automaker’s long-running Art Car series. Her unprecedented contribution used augmented reality to cast a halo of multicolored light particles around the BMW M6 GT3, which viewers can only experience using a dedicated app on their smartphone.<\/span><\/p>\n

The high-tech Cao Fei’s Art Car is ranked 18th in the continuing series, dating back to the color-coded 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL race car by American sculptor Alexander Calder.<\/span><\/p>\n
