Ceilings near the entrance have been rounded to soften the existing architecture<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nAct of Quad created a number of furnishings customized for the space, including a three-legged dining table covered in quartz, a gray L-shaped sofa, and a hammock that hung in front of the apartment’s spacious windows, allowing the residents to sit and sit. The interior is decked out in cobalt blue accents, ranging from a tubular pendant lamp in the living room to the laminate lining the arched wine cabinet in the corner.<\/p>\n
Nearby, one of the chairs features blue piping around the seat cushion and a matching arched backrest.<\/p>\nSeveral of the furnishings including the hammock were made by the studio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n“When we first suggested cobalt to our clients, they thought it wasn’t the color of the house,” explained Priyanka Itadkar and Falgoni Bhatia, who lead The Act of Quad. To them, it seemed very surprising.<\/p>\n
“Now, our customers say they can’t imagine any other color in their home,” the duo added.<\/p>\nThe bed in the youngest daughter’s room can double as a sofa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nBlue reappears in the youngest daughter’s bedroom, where cobalt-color paint covers a thin wall rail.<\/p>\n
Two back cushions are suspended from the horizontal bar, allowing the adjoining bed to double as a sofa during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
Quad law designs multi-generational apartment in Mumbai with its own temple<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<\/aside>\n A comfortable blue cubicle for the cat is incorporated into the room’s wardrobe and an engineering chair made from on-site waste tucked under the desk.<\/p>\n
The other bedroom, belonging to the older sister, is largely dominated by pure white surfaces.<\/p>\nThe blue cat compartment is integrated into the wardrobe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nBut room for a small workbench is rendered in peachy pink, along with orbs mounted on the outside of the dresser for holding coats or bags.<\/p>\n
The studio created a slightly warmer feel in the parents’ bedroom, which was designed to evoke the wood-lined hotel suites the couple used to frequent during their North Indian holidays.<\/p>\nPink spheres installed in the wardrobe provide storage for bags and coats<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nBirch plywood is used to make the floor-to-ceiling storage units as well as the bed frame and headboard, while the surfaces in the en suite bathroom are clad in herringbone brown.<\/p>\n
The family’s basic bathroom is covered in cobalt blue tiles and has a large, organic-shaped mirror mounted above the sink.<\/p>\nBirch plywood fixtures give parents’ bedrooms a feeling of warmth<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe Act of Quad completed another residential project in India just last year, in which the studio combined two apartments in Mumbai to form a ‘simple yet playful’ home for three generations.<\/p>\n
