Today is the second day of the new year, and I’m already writing 2022 on every check. Wait, does anyone still write checks? Better yet, does anyone under 35 know what a check is? Well, dear lambs, I always keep some by my rotary phone. In a moment of nostalgia, I pick up the receiver (the line is dead now) and dial my mom’s out of service number for a silent chat with her. Another question I have, angels, can the dead hear what you are thinking? I hope so, because my mom definitely knew every thought I had when she was alive. Oh, how I miss those moments. Nobody can do it like my mom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I didn’t mind reading over lunch with Greg Antonson when he told me Sotheby’s had found his replacement as QB. I was shocked, butter bean, because in my opinion it cannot be replaced so quickly. I mean, I’m glad he can retire to Waikiki on schedule, but we’re going to miss him on top of Sotheby’s International Realty Santa Fe. Greg is optimistic about that Drew Lampreche<\/strong> Up to the task as the new qualified SIR broker. “It can’t be,” she exclaimed after the second glass of wine, “it’s not big enough!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Frankly, pumpkins, as I get older, young people look around me. Drew is 41, actually older than David Parker when he and his wife, Lisa, bought Parker Realty (from his father, Laughlin), and remodeled it into what it is today. In May 2016, Drew was living in Austin, and he came to Santa Fe to look at the floor. Two things happened: He bought 21 acres in La Cueva (Glorieta area) and simultaneously fell in love with Santa Fe (surprise, surprise). By October of 2016, Drew was living here and was a co-moderator at Sotheby’s. This is the sign of a decisive person, the adjective of a good QB. Greg is right.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Again, lollipops, I wasn’t a mind reader when I imagined giving Jane Smith<\/strong> Great book “SANTA FE Sense of Place” for friends at Christmas. Why did you think the supply chain problems would be over by then? But this month, we’ll all be able to get the book at places like Collected Works, Garcia Street Books, and even the New Mexico Museum of History and the NMM of Art. “SANTA FE Sense of Place,” is a coffee table book filled with luscious photos of eighteen homes, all privately owned and lived in. Pictures of each home include a message from the owners describing their personal relationship with Santa Fe, their “sense of place.” An allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Jane is a talented designer who creates distinctive interiors for her relaxed elegance. Her new book shares another gift for her, which is to find a small part of all the undiscovered talents that live here in our different city.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

My favorite gift last month was from my friend, Mark Cross<\/strong> (author). He arranged for us a private tour of Carlos Vieira’s historic house on Old Pecos Road. History buffs remember Carlos Vieira as Santa Fe’s first resident artist, Pueblo Spanish Architecture Revival leader, and teacher John Joo Mim. Carlos said poetically of milk, “You know, milk is like building with water: the shapes are there, but some escape you.” More recent history buffs remember Carlos House as the home with an underground tennis court. Gladys and Julius Heldman<\/strong> He bought the property in 1982 and the court was built mostly underground in order to meet the 25-foot height restriction for that area. buy it from Larry Hayes<\/strong> and his partner Gene law<\/strong>, who has owned it since 1974, as they lived there and ran the interior design business for Gene, Charles-David Interiors. Larry told me that their sale to the Heldman family was the first million dollar residential sale in Santa Fe. yuza<\/em>Kids, how life changes<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In 2008, Joe Colvin<\/strong> (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the College of Advanced Research) and his wife, Colvin rabbit<\/strong>, bought Vieira’s house for two main reasons: Joe wanted a year-round tennis court; Rabbit loves historical properties. Just think, Kittens, Jane’s inspiration to produce an illustrated book of Santa Fe homes, Drew’s love for SFe and its architecture led him to real estate, and Bunny’s passion for historic property preservation, all due in large part to Carlos Vierra’s successful battle to preserve Spanish pueblo architecture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
