The newest hideaway in Northern Ontario features modern cabins perched on a cliff overlooking Georgia Bay and the La Cloche Mountains.<\/p>\n

Ten Mile Point accommodations on Manitoulin Island with four cabins and two more openings in the spring, owners Laura and Blair Hagman told blogTO. Three cabins are available for rent in the winter – so you don’t have to wait until summer for a vacation.<\/p>\n

“They are all modern, in style, somewhat similar to the Nordic Scandinavian experience in terms of design,” says Blair.<\/p>\n

The design is simple and elegant with huge windows for guests to enjoy the views. The location is next to Ten Mile Point Lookout – a popular spot on Manitolin Island for stunning views.<\/p>\n

“It’s one of the highest points in Manitoulin that overlooks the whole of Georgian Bay,” says Blair. “And so you’re looking somewhat from a panoramic perspective, and you’re basically looking from the windows and decks down toward Georgian Bay.”<\/p>\n

The three new cabins are named after the birds.<\/p>\n

Sandhill sleeps six in two bedrooms and views of the sunrise and sunset from the living room with floor-to-ceiling windows, or from the outside deck and sitting area.<\/p>\n

Osprey House has one bedroom with the same beautiful views<\/p>\n

The Raven House is a 260-square-foot tiny house not intended for winter, designed by RAW Design in Toronto.<\/p>\n

The property’s original cabin – Ten Mile Point Cottage sleeps five in three bedrooms. Laura and Blair have rented this cottage for the past two years but had the idea of \u200b\u200bcreating modern cottages on the bluff.<\/p>\n

“When we built when we bought the original cottage, we had a vision of being able to do what we do,” says Laura.<\/p>\n

Laura and Blair met in the Northwest Territories 10 years ago when they were both teachers. They decided to return to Ontario to raise their two children close to home. Laura continues teaching grade 4\/5 full-time and Blair runs the Manitolin Brewery Company.<\/p>\n

Following the trends of modern architecture for cabins around the world, Laura and Blair decided they wanted a clean design with an emphasis on the natural environment.<\/p>\n

“We love the modern look of them and…that kind of streamlined design, but also the main thing is to have big windows to view the view.”<\/p>\n

For those who like to drive, Manitoulin Island has many natural attractions such as Bridal Vale Falls, which freeze over during the winter and visitors can walk underneath, as well as the cup and saucer trail.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
