That volume far exceeds what it is in 2020 &#8211; this year&#8217;s numbers are 68 percent higher than last year&#8217;s $5 billion.  The increase can be attributed to both the influx of new buyers and the increase in online sales;  Nearly 39 percent of buyers and 44 percent of bidders were new to Sotheby&#8217;s this year, while 92 percent of this year&#8217;s total bids were placed online.<\/p>\n<p>Named Rhode Island School of Design <strong>Crystal Williams<\/strong> As its eighteenth president after the last retirement of the outgoing president <strong>Roseanne Somerson<\/strong>In the new position, Williams will become the first black president in the foundation&#8217;s history. For Garrett Leather, purchase will allow the distributor to offer a greater selection of coordinating colors and textures with fewer lead times.<\/p>\n<p>After 75 years in operation, Wisconsin-based WG&#038;R Furniture has decided to transfer ownership to its employees, <em>Today&#8217;s Furniture<\/em> reports.  The family-run company, which employs 280 workers and has showrooms across the state, will move to an employee stock ownership plan, with the CEO <strong>Jim Green<\/strong> continue in his current job.  WG&#038;R is the latest in a series of industry players who have made the same move, such as Whitewood Furniture, Kentwood Office Furniture, Norwalk Furniture and KI Furniture all have made the transition in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Travel Startup AvantStay has announced the completion of a $160 million Series B funding round, <em>Take Crunch<\/em> reports.  The company&#8217;s platform facilitates the decoration and leasing process of high-end homes used for vacations and short-term stays, and its revenue has grown tenfold over the past two years with the number of properties increasing to more than 1,000. With the new capital, the company plans to further expand and further develop its technology to include more property rental business.<\/p>\n<p>Ein Moore &#038; Giles <strong>crap tray<\/strong> As the new president of the company, while the outgoing president <strong>Saket Wood<\/strong> He will remain with the company in his role as CEO. The platform, geared towards small-to-medium sized retailers, offers more than 15,000 SKUs across the textile, home, fashion and jewelry sectors, with a particular focus on artisans and small-scale producers across Southeast Asia &#8211; including those that are community focused and women-led. Brands like Jaipur Rugs, Amoliconcepts, and Eyda Home.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate its 175th anniversary, the Smithsonian&#8217;s Arts and Industries Building reopens with Gallery Futures, featuring artist and architect <strong>Sochi Reddy<\/strong> Architecture and design firm Reddymade has launched a light and artificial intelligence installation called Me + You.  For the project, take advantage of Reddy <strong>Livia Lo<\/strong>, principal and co-founder of architectural lighting design firm Reveal Design Group, to join her team in creating a cloud of spotlights, glowing acrylic rods, gates and LED panels located in the 90-foot-high rotunda.
