This cluttered, cluttered world has been transformed by the online mood board, Pinterest, which has created a whole new way to find and organize design inspiration. With so many designers to follow and such an array of styles to select, it seems impossible to pick a favourite, but Budget Direct Home Insurance has tried. The company recently studied the numbers to glean the most popular interior design style on Pinterest, as well as the best interior designer. Did your favorites make the cut?

The most consistent interior design style
Use Budget Direct Interiordecor.com to make a comprehensive list of interior design styles, then use their data scientists to see how many times each style has been pinned to Pinterest. They found that among the top 10 design styles on Pinterest, classic is the most popular, with 2,665,779 pins. Given the long history of the style and the many images available online, it is not surprising that the vintage style came to the fore.

Other popular styles
Budget Direct found Indian-style interiors to be the second most popular, thanks to its ornate wooden furniture and rich colors and patterns. Arts and Crafts Modern and English complete the top five.
The World’s Most Influential Pinterior Designer
After compiling a list of the world’s most influential interior designers, Budget Direct then counted the number of pins each one had on Pinterest. Joanna Gaines, known as the “better half” of the duo on the popular reality TV series “Fixer Upper,” took first place, with 238,163 pins. The interior design queen of Pinterest is also known for her fondness for farmhouse chic.

American designers dominate the top ten
In the list of the top ten most influential interior designers in the world, American designers chose all but one of the sites. Thomas O’Brien trails behind Joanna Gaines, with 168,999 pins. Nate Berkus, Michael Taylor and Tony Duckett are among the top five. The most consistent interior designer outside of America is Belgian Axel Vervoordt, with 69,416 pins. Greg Natalie is the most consistent designer in Australia, with 11,985 pins, and the most stable in the UK is Zaha Hadid, with 57,168 pins.
